Location: Flexible, based at our office in Aldgate East, with travel throughout the London region and occasional remote working.

We are looking for an experienced Youth Worker, to deliver training sessions and projects to young people through youth centres, community groups, schools and alternative provisions across the London Region, and to ensure our programmes are fit for the future.
 

We are an award-winning national charity which trains over 9,500 young people affected by street violence each year in emergency first-aid through a team of 350 healthcare volunteers and youth workers. We empower young people with the skills to become part of the solution to violence by developing the skills and confidence to save lives and increasing their understanding of the medical and psychological consequences of violence.

As the StreetDoctors Youth Worker in the Region, you will deliver high quality training, develop new partnerships and maintain positive relationships.

The key areas of focus include:

● To deliver training sessions to young people and partners to required quantity and quality, and support the development, testing and implementation of new training content.

● To create, develop and maintain partnerships with a range of organisations including, funders, commissioners, community organisations, criminal justice organisations, education providers and youth organisations.

● To support the management of volunteers and provide the best volunteering experience possible.

The aim of the post is to work alongside the Parent Peer Advocate to improve and enhance the West Glamorgan regional advocacy network by creating a new form of peer advocacy and peer support for parents who are going through the child protection process, statutory assessment and/or the looked after children system within the Neath, Port Talbot and Swansea area.

Key Purpose:

Engage with staff and volunteers at a local and national level across RABI as well as with key external stakeholders and partners to influence compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures. Support the Senior Service Delivery Manager to implement RABI’s reporting through maintenance of effective internal recording and reporting systems (CPOMS). Promote a high level of safeguarding awareness and related training throughout the organisation guided by priorities highlighted in the safeguarding action plan. Provide a high level of safeguarding support to all staff and volunteers and embed a strong culture of safeguarding across RABI. Act as the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead in the absence of the Senior Service Delivery Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

· Work alongside the Designated Safeguarding Lead to develop and enhance safeguarding practice within the organisation.

· Act as one of the first points of contact for all staff, volunteers and external queries in all matter of safeguarding.

· Daily oversight of our safeguarding system CPOMS. Follow up on any queries relating to CPOMS and develop training materials to support staff and volunteers in this area.

· Provide the Designated Safeguarding Lead with monthly report to feed into longer-term safeguarding planning.

· Work alongside the Designated Safeguarding Lead to develop and deliver safeguarding training and support sessions for staff and volunteers to create an annual training plan.

· Effectively engage with staff and volunteers at a local and national level to ensure safeguarding escalations and approaches are understood through the organisation.

· If required travel to RABI volunteer groups to provide safeguarding support.

· Work with external stakeholders and partners to understand the main thematic areas of safeguarding that are impacting the community that we support.

· Work collaboratively within RABI to share information about safeguarding trends that are happening locally or nationally.

· Lead of providing safeguarding support to regional teams and provide practical guidance on managing a range of operational safeguarding risks, increasing confidence in safeguarding practice across RABI.

· Champion safeguarding practices and procedures across all Departments, ensuring compliance and driving engagement and awareness.

· Develop working relationships with key internal stakeholders e.g. volunteering, partnerships, campaigning and fundraising to offer safeguarding input to any emerging projects.

· Maintain up to date knowledge of current practice changes and any relevant changes to wider guidance, policy and legislation; including proactively engaging with other organisations and external experts to ensure RABI’s approach is informed by and contributes to best practice within the sector.

· Manage all referrals to RABI’s counselling provision ensuring all external and internal SLA’s are adhered to.

· Undertake any other task relevant to the job purpose.

Person Specification:

Essential

· Experience of working as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead

· Relevant up to date training in the specialist area of Safeguarding

· Knowledge of safeguarding practices and legislation

· Knowledge and experience of statutory agency practices and multi-agency working

· Ability to distinguish between observation, facts and information gained from others and confidently assess risk in a time sensitive manner

· Excellent communication, report-writing and recording skills

Job Summary

Please note this is a part time role working 21 hours per week with a pro rata salary of £15,450 per year (£25,750 per year full time equivalent). 

The role will involve the provision of youth engagement activities to a diverse range of LGBTQ+ young people aged 16-25 who are homeless, at risk of homelessness or living in a hostile environment. Our focus is in maintaining our ability to provide the highest service possible, giving our young people the opportunities to access peer support, community engagement and life skills. Overall, we aim to support LGBTQ+ young people into safe accommodation and work or education and prevent them from becoming homeless again in the future.

Key Tasks:

• Work as part of the Youth Engagement team to engage LGBTQ+ youth in a programme of meaningful activities designed to promote wellbeing and support young people to meet their personal goals.
• Ensure young people are meaningfully engaged in the co-creation of akt’s services and projects. 
• With the support of the Youth Engagement Manager develop, manage, and grow akt’s LGBTQ+ youth work programme in Manchester.
• Facilitate group work and peer support sessions and complete risk assessments.
• Support the Trans Pathway group.
• Develop and grow our programme of LGBTQ+ national and regional youth events.
• Work with young people and colleagues to explore the potential for national/regional trans youth events and activities.
• Support young people to be involved with the development and creation of an ever-growing collection of online/practical resources and videos to provide advice, support and reassurance to LGBTQ+ young people, on issues and topics that matter to them most, in conjunction with Digital Services and Marcomms Teams.

Working as part of a growing team, this post will continue the development and delivery of the Hepatitis C peer project, recruiting and supporting volunteer peers across Bristol and surrounding areas. Working in partnership with hepatitis C clinical teams, drug and alcohol services and homeless service providers, the post will coordinate delivery of educational workshops, promote and facilitate increased testing for HCV, targeting marginalised and disadvantaged communities and ensuring referral and ongoing support through treatment and harm reduction approaches to prevent reinfection and other harms among PWID. 

Who we are

The problem - On average, 160 young people are excluded from school each week. Once excluded, prospects for these young people are bleak, with only 4% achieving good GCSE grades, and 67% entering sustained education, employment or training compared to 96% of their non-excluded peers. This can be a pipeline to prison, with concerning statistics showing 63% of prisoners having been excluded from school.

Our mission - To ensure that young people who have been excluded from school are not excluded from society.

Who we serve - We support the hardest to reach young people in the most disadvantaged communities, each of whom are most at risk of experiencing school exclusion or are at risk of being excluded. Young people who are eligible for free school meals are 4x more likely to get excluded, along with black Caribbean boys. Young people with special educational needs are also six times as likely to be excluded as their peers.

Our work - We work in a number of different settings both during term time and after school. Our coaches lead small groups of 8-10 young people, using sport as a hook and mentorship as an anchor to develop their soft skills, as well as improve their physical & mental wellbeing. This, coupled with exposure to the work place through Career Taster Days, raises their aspirations and puts young people in a better position to enter sustained education, employment or training (EET) when they leave school.

We are looking for someone to carry out maternity cover for our Programme Manager (Midlands & North). The Programme Manager role purpose is to lead on all aspects of service delivery within the Midlands & North area, which currently covers the following hubs: Birmingham, Solihull, Leicester, Northumberland, Tyne & Wear, County Durham, Liverpool, Warrington & Oldham. This is a 10 month fixed term role with the opportunity to extend employment at the end of the contract.

This includes accountability for the delivery of our in person services, digital delivery (Player Profiles), impact, employability, regional fundraising, regional partnerships, business development and people across all regions in the Midlands & North. You will directly line manage at least 3 people but be responsible for a wider team of circa 15 people.  

This is a varied and hands on role that will be full of purpose. You’ll be joining a supportive and driven team that works hard to help young people change their lives. As a manager you will play a key part in the leadership of the organisation and driving the implementation of strategic plans on the ground.

It is important to us that this role remains embedded within the delivery of our interventions, therefore the post holder will be required to spend up to 25% delivering our programmes or working alongside staff for quality assurance.

Snow Camp is a ground-breaking national youth charity, and we are looking to recruit a fantastic new North West Wellbeing Manager and Programme Support to join our North West team on a 4 day a week contract (30 hrs).

Our accredited programmes are unique and attractive to young people, taking them from beginner to qualified snowsports instructors in just one year with volunteering and apprenticeship progression routes available at the end. Alongside learning to ski or snowboard, young people also have access to wellbeing support with the emphasis on improving young people’s mental health and wellbeing.

You will report to the North West Programme Manager & Head of Snowsports and will be responsible for the delivery of our wellbeing workshops and providing 1to1 wellbeing support sessions to young people. You will also work as part of the North West team to assist with the planning and delivery of snowsports and life-skills focused youth activities run by the Programme Manager and assist with the apprenticeship programme throughout each year.

Experience of working successfully with under-served young people in a range of settings, with a focus on supporting young people’s wellbeing will be essential to the post. Passion for snowsports and supporting young people generally will be a huge advantage!

Youth work, wellbeing support experience, project management, logistical skills, managing relationships, communication and presentation skills will make up the role. Along with experience of delivering group workshops to help young people work towards meaningful goals to improve their emotional wellbeing.

Job Description

• You will spend roughly 2.5 days will be in the Wellbeing Manager role and 1.5 days will be in the Programme Support role each week.
• In consultation with the Programme Manager, to manage the delivery of the Wellbeing Workshops and 1to1 mentoring support needed for young people and apprentices.
• Work with the programme manager to gain the young people’s trust and confidence.
• To assist with delivery and development of The North West’s full snowsports focused journey of youth programmes which take place at Chill Factore.

Essential Criteria

• A passion for supporting young people’s wellbeing and mental health.
• At least 2 years’ experience working with young people on a one to one basis.
• Youth Work or wellbeing qualifications.
• At least 2 years’ experience of delivering group workshops and training to young people.
• The ability to ski or snowboard (or willing to learn).
• Sound knowledge of MS Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Desirable Criteria

• Counselling qualification.
• Ski Instructor qualifications
• Driving license.

Management and support

The North West Wellbeing Manager & Programme Support will report to the North West Programme Manager & Head of Snowsports Morv Bett who will provide support and guidance.

The Trustee board will determine the overall direction of Snow Camp and will set the overall priorities in consultation with the Director and Senior Team.

Conditions of Service

The North West Wellbeing Manager and Programme Support must be prepared to work regular evenings, weekends and with occasional weeks away. Snow Camp operates flextime system. Work patterns will change depending on time of year and programme being delivered.

Do you want to join an organisation committed to addressing illiteracy amongst people in prison?

Shannon Trust are delighted to be working with His Majesty’s Prison & Probation Service (HMPPS) to provide peer-led literacy and numeracy programmes across a number of prisons.  We now have the opportunity to provide a service at HMP Bure and HMP Norwich. Working closely with the prison and their staff, people in prison, Shannon Trust volunteers and mentors, this post will lead the delivery and development of our literacy and numeracy programme at HMP Bure and HMP Norwich, maximising opportunities for people in prison to learn to read. 

Ideally you will have some experience of prison settings underpinned by the ability to build relationships and personal qualities that include resilience, determination and a problem-solving approach.

This is a full time role and will be split between two sites at HMP Bure and HMP Norwich. 2 x part time positions may be considered. This role will be prison-based.
